Renovate before selling
Spend where it pays.Skip what does not.
The right preparation can add far more than it costs. The wrong renovation can cost you twice. Steve came to real estate from the building trade, so you get honest, practical advice on what to do, what to leave and what it should cost.

The challenge
What makes this
sale different
You are not the first to face this, and there is a well-worn path through it.
01
Not knowing what buyers pay forPaint and gardens often return more than a new kitchen.02
OvercapitalisingSpending more than the market will give back.03
Finding and managing tradesQuotes, schedules and quality control take time you may not have.04
Paying for it up frontPreparation costs can be hard to fund before the sale. How we help
A builder's eye,
before the sign goes up
- A walk-through with a former builder. We look at the home the way buyers and building inspectors will.
- A prioritised list. Must do, worth doing and not worth it, with rough costs for each.
- Trades quoted and managed. Painters, landscapers, carpenters and cleaners organised and checked.
- Funding available. Through SaleFunder, sale-related costs can be funded and repaid at settlement.
- Styling to finish. Full or digital styling so buyers see the potential straight away.
- Building report up front. So surprises are found and handled before buyers find them.

Questions
we get asked
How much should I spend before selling?
Often less than you think. Cosmetic work like paint, gardens, lighting and minor repairs usually gives the best return. We give you a prioritised list with rough costs at the appraisal.
Can you organise the trades?
Yes. We source quotes, schedule the work and check it is done properly, so you are not managing builders while you prepare to move.
How does funding work?
SaleFunder can fund sale-related costs such as preparation, styling and marketing, repaid at settlement. Terms are set by SaleFunder and we will walk you through them.
Do I need a building report before selling?
In the ACT a building and compliance report is part of the contract for houses. Getting it early means any issues are known and handled before buyers raise them.
